2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan

2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan

Price Range: $33,250 - $50,550
The new engine in the G37 made it onto Ward's Ten Best Engines list for its performance, while the interior comfort and amenities give the car a luxury feel. According to Infiniti, the new interior was inspired by Japanese calligraphy, and new fascias on the sedan help to increase the G37's curb appeal. The addition of the convertible model last summer completes the sports-luxury lineup -- putting it solidly in competition with the BMW 3 series.

There are three body styles of the G37 -- coupe, convertible, and sedan -- but they're all powered by one engine, the 3.7-liter V6 with 330 hp in the coupe and 328 hp in the sedan and convertible. All models have a 7-speed automatic transmission, except the G37S Sedan Sport 6MT, which features a 6-speed manual transmission. The G37 is rear-wheel drive, though an AWD version of the sedan is available.

Safety equipment for all models includes the Infiniti Advance Airbag System plus supplemental airbags and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags. Electronic brake force distribution, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, vehicle dynamic control, traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system are all standard. The brake pedal assembly will move away from the driver in some types of frontal crashes to help avoid leg injuries.

The sedan and coupe is available in a choice of four trim levels: base, Journey, G37x AWD and Sport 6MT. The base level includes 17-inch wheels, HID xenon headlights, fog lights, LED rear lights and speed-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, it has power everything, push-button ignition, leather-appointed seating and steering wheel, 8-way power front seats and a 6-speaker stereo system with MP3 playback and XM satellite radio.

The Journey adds optional paddle shifters and sport suspension, plus standard auto on/off headlights, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and a USB connection for the sound system. The G37x is similarly equipped, plus being all-wheel drive. The Sport 6MT has a manual transmission, viscous limited-slip differential, sport suspension, 18-inch wheels, moonroof, 10-way power driver's seat, Bose audio system and a 2GB Music Box for storing digital songs.

The convertible with power retractable hardtop has two models, the base and the Sport 6MT with manual 6-speed transmission in place of the 7-speed automatic. The base model has 18-inch wheels, rear window defroster, heated power mirrors, rear-seat heater ducts, heated front seats, and rearview monitor standard. The Sport 6MT adds sport-tuned steering, 19-inch wheels, a 10-way seat and unique interior and exterior trim. Both have optional air purifier, Bose sound system, iPod interface and Bluetooth.
Infiniti's G series got a new name and a new engine for 2009, so changes for 2010 are pretty minor. The coupe has new interior colors and trim, while the sedan gets a new grille and headlights in addition to the interior upgrades. Both the coupe and sedan have new options added to the list, including an air purifier and the sedan adds a standard 8-way power passenger seat. The convertible continues unchanged, as it was introduced only last year.
